Don’t beg for things. Do it yourself.
Or else you won’t get anything.
Never live alone.
Never fight alone.
But above all else,
hold up that attitude of love. - my high school year book quote. oho
Hey. Looking at this page huh. Well don’t expect anything fancy. Did I go to elementary school with you? Yeah I was the chubby kid with glasses and the huge gap between his teeth. The one that got run over by a truck.
Elementary? You don’t need to know what happened in elementary school.
Got into music back in middle school. Guitar was my main past-time, but officially, I was this fresh bass player forced into an advanced orchestra program because my scheduled conflicted with the beginning levels of the class. This pretty much sums up how I had to haul ass to get down on upright bass.
In my high school years I was a principal bassist from 9th to 11th grade, 11th being the highest level of orchestra in SCPA (which is still funny to me because it’s more like our best overall sounding orchestra rather than as ADVANCED as the class description says we are. But all of the guys and girls are pretty pro. Took on Jazz Band my senior year and never loved any other class like I loved this one.
High school was the time I got into my boxing career. A few scheduled matches here and there and eventually I reached middleweight division by the start of 11th grade. By that time I had already completed a clean record of 20+ matches and numerous wins by RSC. RSCs are when the ref decides to stop a match for any reason, if he feels like the other fighter can’t go on, damage, etc. At first, the initial goal was to lose weight, learn to defend myself, that sort of thing, but I steadily got more and more into it, till finally it became one of my favorite things to do.
I love fighting and doing other physical contact sports as well. Took Karate and Kendo at an early age with uncle Goto when I had my 3 year stay in Hiroshima, my uncle Nelson showed me how to use weapons through Arnis De Mano. When I moved back to america I took Tae Kwon Do, but because of the language barrier and shyness coming in, I stopped going and let go of martial arts. My body got fat as the years rolled by and when middle school came, I was already a subject to bullying and harassment.
Because of boxing, I guess you could say I didn’t become this vengeful asshole that hated every living thing that moved. But I learned to vent my emotions out through sports. I’m not that good in any other things though, like say anything that has to do with balls. No sir. I can play the line in football but other than that, my hand-eye coordination is horrible. I got good balance though. Throw me in a ring and I’m completely fine.
High school also exposed me to MMA which was comprised of mainly tae kwon do, muay thai, jiu jitsu, and other moves that was the basis of this self defense/P.E. alternative. I got hooked and enjoyed the class workouts everyday. Dabbled in afterschool Capoeira that they offered there (I think they don’t have it anymore though) and other things.
At first I majored in music, but I gradually shifted my abilities into video production. But as of right now I have no real ongoing projects to toot on about because I lack the necessary equipment and software that was offered by the school. But I do have a few videos circling around youtube somewhere.
Other than the gym time and music background, I’m pretty much this geek that watches anime and reads manga like a bowss. If it wasn’t for my other hobbies, I guess I wouldn’t be where I am today. So I’m pretty proud of myself.
Get to know me sometime, alright? Oh you’re confused at who’s this “gabe” right? Well too bad. You should know me by now.
